I'm a Busy Busy Bee

Ooh, I made a new layout! I just did not like the proportions of the old one - I think this is much better. Plus I wanted a cute background. Yes. I might paint some waves for a background tomorrow, but for now, this one will do.

New items up in the shop, hopefully someone will buy some. Prease?

I spent yesterday embroidering more and watching Avatar: The Last Airbender on my computer. Ah bliss. It rained all day, so I didn't feel bad about sitting on my bum all day. Although I did manage to clean my room and take out all my garbage, which was a LOT of recycling. Why am I talking about this? I'm rambling. Hooboy.

Not much else to say. Tomorrow I'm planning on actually drawing. And painting some more. I have so many ideas and not enough time! Plus I've been spending a lot of time advertising my etsy store and yet not getting any sales, I wonder what I am doing wrong. If I could get like. Two more sales. Then I would feel like I can relax and work on something else. Well. I must perservere, I guess!!

Goodnight Moonlight Ladies

Ooh, look at that. Notecards for sale at my etsy. I'm going to post more, and hopefully I will get a sale or two :]! Wouldn't that be nice.

In other news, this is what I've been working on a little bit lately. I'm making a Mick and Co. quilt! I'm really stoked about it, it's the first time I'm going to use embroidery in a quilt, and also I bought these adorable cream-colored crocheted doilies to applique onto it too. The color scheme is tan/beige/cream and navy/blue. I think it's going to look really neat when it's done.

I took a 2 hour and 40 minute walk today, and boy do my feet and legs hurt! But I love walking, I'm trying to get more into it. Or at least do it more often.

My mom and I then went to Half-Price Books, one of my favorite places on earth, and I went a little crazy. I got a humongous stack of books, all of which have to do with sailing and the sea, except for a book of Aubrey Beardsley illustrations, yum. Aside from that, I got a tiny book about the history of whaling (no, I don't condone whaling, but the pictures of the ships and sailors are awesome), a national geographic book about fish, a time life book called "The Explorers" that goes with my books "The Frigates" and "The Pirates" in the same series, a book of Winslow Homer ship paintings, an amazingly illustrated version of "Rime of the Ancient Mariner", and a journal of a sailor's exploration to the polar seas in Canada. So excited!

Drifting to Sleep

It's done! I just finished my first embroidery project.

I asked my mom for an old pillowcase because I wanted to teach myself how to embroider. I'm sure she thought I was insane, because the last thing I need is to learn another craft, but I was determined!! Once I got the pillowcase, though, I faced a conundrum - (is that how you spell it?) what to embroider?

This uncertainty only lasted a few seconds, though, as I was already looking at pictures of scrimshaw on google images, and hey, who can't use a ship pillowcase? So bam. I sketched a design onto the pillowcase with mechanical pencil, and three days later, I had a ship! Or two.

I used the...backstitch? I've forgotten already. But I used up all of my thread. Floss? I don't know the proper terminology. I only had two loopies. Skeins? No...I dont know. Hahaha. But it was worth it, I think!
